Safety
Safety needs rules. These are defined by the European Standard (EN) 17353 for warning accessories.
Many of our reflective safety products are tested and certified to EN 17353. This includes the optical performance and surface area requirements of accessories for non-professional use for better visibility of the wearer when illuminated by vehicles on dark roads. A distinction is made between two accessory classes:
Type 1: free hanging accessories such as reflective danglers
Type 2: removable accessories such as body reflectors, snap wraps and other bands
For type 1 the surface must be between 15 and 50 cm2. If type 1 is reflective on both sides, the thickness must not exceed 10 mm. Type 2 must have an area of more than 90 cm2.
The aim of the Product Safety Act (ProdSG) is to banish anonymous and inferior products from the market. With effect from 1st December 2012, the legislator has finally banned the provision of consumer products that are not labeled with the name and address of the manufacturer or the distributor. Therefore, all required contact data is available on all reflAktive products.
TÜV-GS-Sign
We are entitled to use the TÜV-GS-Sign (safety tested) on our products.
This means that either our details appear on the product or our distributors have their own subcertificate and then their details can appear on the product.

reflAktive, a brand of safeReflex GmbH, guarantees the delivery of high-quality products that are tested and certified to EN 17353.This standard specifies the optical performance and surface area requirements of accessories for non-professional use for better visibility of the wearer when illuminated by vehicles on dark roads.
The accessories can be worn on the body or attached in another way. This standard does not apply to clothing.
For our products, 2 accessory classes are relevant:
- Type 1: Free hanging accessories, such as reflective danglers
- Type 2: Removable accessories, such as reflective bands and wristbands
The optical performance standards are specified by manufacturers for certain types of reflective films.
The surface area of type 1 accessories must be between 15 cm² and 50 cm². If a type 1 accessory reflects on both sides, its thickness must not exceed 10 mm. Type 2 accessories must have a minimum surface area of more than 90 cm².

Product Safety Law
The German Legislator has in introuced a new product-safety law.
The purpose of this law is the removal of “anonymous consumer products” (where the source/supplier cannot be identified) from the market. With the implementation of the new Product Safety Law on 01.12.2011 the legislator has finally forbidden to place consumer products into the market which are not marked with either the postal address of the producer or the distributor. Breaches of the regulations, since 01.12.2011, can results in penalties for the producer or the distributor in accordance with § 39 paragraph 1 No. 3 in connection with § 6 paragraph 1 No. 2 Product Safety Law with a fi ne of up to 10.000 EUR.
In compliance with this law, we supply our products with the name and the contact address of the producer, the distributor or the end customer.
